These unique awards recognize students who exhibit extraordinary Christ-centered behavior through volunteer service to their parishes, schools, and communities and are offered by the Catholic Community Foundation. Any practicing Catholic 8th grade student, registered in the Diocese of Phoenix, who plans to attend a Catholic high school, can apply for an $8,000 award.

On March 4, 2009 the Catholic Community Foundation's donors, sponsors, staff, board and committee members, in addition to over 250 invited guests, witnessed 17 most-deserving students receive $8,000 scholarships each toward their Catholic high school education. For their exemplary Christ-centered service, Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted decorated recipients with custom 2009 St. Katharine Drexel medallions while Award Sponsors and Christian Service Award Committee Members presented them each with a Certificate of Excellence.
